 Overview Of Case Styles

Case Quote: Call 614-274-7246 or email today.

Many variables go into selection the right case for you and your equipment. Both must be kept in mind, you and your equipment, because what's good for your equipment might not be good for you and visa versa. A 100lb case with 6" foam for you laptop might offer indestructable protection, however you won't be able to carry it around and you won't want to pay the freight it will cost to ship it. Equally, a 10lb. case lined with 1/4" foam for you 50" plasma monitor is right for your back and case budget, but won't be good for your monitor. So it's up to you and Scorpion Case to find an equilibrium between these two.

Considerations when selecting the style for you:
A) How your equipment will be transported - Your own supervision: car/van/truck, team bus, or common carrier such as airline/train baggage, FedX/UPS/DHL/etc, or LTL truck?
B) What is the product (electronics, posters, costume, tradeshow display, music gear, etc.) - Size, weight, and fragility of each item.
C) Your product's value and how easily it is replaced. (At first a $200.00 dollar case seems silly to house $200.00 dollars worth of custom graphics, but if the graphics can't be immediately replaced should they arrive to a tradeshow damaged, they have a worth much greater than their monetary value and need to be properly protected.)

The following is an overview of the styles of cases we offer. Please do not hesitate to call to discuss your needs. Our sales staff can quickly recommend a style that is right for you and your equipment, as well provide you with an immediate price quote.

Buckledown
The Scorpion Buckledown is a light duty case that is great for transporting equipment under your own supervision in your car, van, bus, or small, lightly loaded truck. This style of case is also sufficient for airline and train carry-on luggage assuming the size and weight meet the carrier's restrictions. In most instances we do not, however, recommend the Buckledown for shipping through common carriers such as airline baggage, UPS/FedX, or LTL truck. Buckledown Plus
The Scorpion Buckledown Plus case is identical to the standard Buckledown, however it is equiped with aluminium angle riveted to all edges of the case, adding greater strength and lifespan. This is a light duty case that is great for transporting equipment over long distances under your own supervision via, car, van, bus, or small, lightly loaded truck. It is also sufficient for airline and train carry-on baggage. In most instances we do not recommend this style of case for common carriers such as airline baggage, UPS/FedX, or LTL truck. Travelite
The Scorpion Travelite is a light duty case that is great for transporting equipment under your own supervision in your car, van, bus, or truck, and it is also sufficient for airline and train carry-on luggage assuming the size and weight meet the carrier's restrictions. Because of it's recessed hardware and tongue & groove valance, it is a more durable case than the Buckledown styles and, depending on what equipment the case is manufactured for, can also be shipped with a frequency of 1 - 2 time per year through airline and train baggage and common carriers such as UPS, FedX, and DHL. (Our sales staff can advise you on this during the quoting process.) We do not recommend shipping the Travelite case through LTL truck carriers. This case is generally 25% lighter than our ATA case, but by no means as durable. Click here to go to the Travelite website for more information.

Travelite Plus
The Scorpion Travelite Plus case is identical to the standard Travelite case, however it is equiped with aluminium angle riveted to all edges of the case, adding greater strength and lifespan. This is a medium duty case that can always be used for transporting your equipment under your own supervision, and can generally be used for light airline and train baggage, as well as common carriers such as UPS, FedX, and DHL. The Travelite Plus is also the second best choice to the ATA case when sending your equipment through airline baggage because it is generally 13% lighter than the ATA, making it an alternative when the airlines' tight weight restrictions prevent the ATA case from being an option to ship your equipment in. ATA Spec 300
The Scorpion ATA Spec 300 case is the most durable of all the styles we offer. Provided in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" thicknesses (depending on the size and weight of your equipment) this style is ideal for all modes of transportation, but specifically manufactured to withstand the abuse of common carriers - that is, when you are handing over your equipment to a transport company to move your equipment for you, whether it is airline baggage, UPS/FedX/DHL/etc., or any form of truck freight. Click here to go to the ATA website for more information.
